What does a "Grant Review" entail?
The first step we take toward funding is the Grant Review. We'll search high & low, far & wide, through categories such as federal, state, community, corporate, philanthropic, ethnic-based, and alumni-based funding programs. We do the legwork and the research for you, while completing a preliminary scan for matches to your organization's mission and specific program or need to be funded. Should we uncover options that may not apply to that specific need, but may be applicable to you, we will supply this information to you as well. We'll summarize the funding sources and their programs, indicate which appears a solid match, a relevant funding source, or a possible future funding source. We save you hours of trolling online, and present information to you in plain English not "grant-speak."
Do you write grant proposals?
We do. In fact, it is in proposal and presentation that the marketing experience of many team members shines. Once you have a good funding source match, you need to grab their attention in a compelling way, while remaining within the bounds of what specifics the review committee needs to see. It can be a creative writing tightrope, and we are deft at balancing. We will also provide resources as needed for validated financial data should you not have the applicable professional firm(s) or auditor(s) retained already.
Do you guarantee we'll receive funding?
No, we do not. Nor should you be eager to work with a person or firm who does. The conditions and reviews for applications change with each review period, be it annually, semi-annually, or monthly. We WILL guarantee that we will seek grants and funding for your organization, and keep you equally informed as to successes and challenges. By working through challenges, no's may become yes's, and lessons learned lead to success.
Will you work on a contingency (% of funding) basis?
Our Grant Writing services are billed on an hourly basis, and we do not provide terms based up percentage of funding received. Work we do for your initial grant application is replicated and modified when possible to reduce fees on subsequent applications and proposals. More importantly, many grant programs either stipulate as policy that they will not review or approve proposals in which funding will partially be used for compensation of the writer. Still others, while not stating it as policy, carry through this inquiry during review.
What's with the name?
So glad you've asked, and read down this far. When we were looking for a name, founder Leigh Abbott wanted to convey the passion she felt for this work. To do this, she tapped two things she is passionate about, and that she believes have made many opportunities possible: faith and education. Leigh, a person of deep faith & a dyed in the wool Nittany Lion, wants to hear about the passion that ignited your work .
